'The Chinese Garden', by Benedetta Tagliabue, the new exhibition at the Espai Mercè Sala
Date: From 13/06/2019 to 30/09/2019
‘The Chinese Garden’ introduces a garden into a space not designed for such a purpose.
Two murals 28 metres long and almost two metres high, rows of trees and other natural and organic features contribute to creating the artifice and harmony of a garden. To bring it to life, the architect uses drawing, photography, the moving image and even origami to reproduce the fauna that might grow in a Chinese garden, a creation that is classical yet at the same time contemporary.
Benedetta Tagliabue won the RIBA International Best International Building Award in 2011 for the Spanish Pavilion in Shanghai and recently received the Cross of Saint George from the Government of Catalonia. Two of her projects that you can visit in Barcelona are Diagonal Mar Park and the market of Santa Caterina.
This exhibition of Benedetta Tagliabue's work is organised by Casa Àsia with the support of the Catalan Government's Ministry of Culture and Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB).
