Brief history
The first articulated bus to be used in Barcelona, a new model made by Pegaso, arrived on 12 October 1964. During the testing period, the bus ran with number plate 2001 and was then renumbered 3001. It was 18 m long and had four doors on the right side. As this length was greater than that authorised by law, it had to be shortened and the final version was 16.5 m long with three doors. These modifications were the basis for articulated buses purchased subsequently. The 3036 bus belongs to the first series of this type brought into service by TB (Transports de Barcelona) in 1967.
After 1974 changes were made and an air renewal vent was installed on the roof and new headlights were fitted. Many vehicles in this series were substantially overhauled after 1977. The structure and bodywork were redesigned but the mechanical elements were retained. This is one of them. Between 1981 and 1992 they were gradually withdrawn from service. Bus 3036 was withdrawn from service by TB in 1987 and was transferred to the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Bellaterra), to provide service on the University campus. It was used there with plate number 17 and continued to provide service until 2003. It then became the property of Auto Clàssic Gratallops, which kept it off the road. Over the following years a restoration programme was undertaken. In February 2008, it was acquired by TMB, who in 2010 commissioned Consman Truck, SL to paint it in the green colours of the period when it was used in Barcelona.
