Social commitment
We foster a culture of cooperation and solidarity among all our employees, we work together with organisations, institutions and key entities in the field of social responsibility, and we develop measures to help build a better society.
Our commitment to social action is set out in the Cooperation and Solidarity Master Plan, with six action programmes aimed at extending the culture of cooperation and solidarity within and outside the company. The main aims are to raise social awareness and implement projects to combat poverty, social exclusion and intolerance, and to promote peace.
The six programmes are: encouraging volunteering, social procurement, providing support for people with mobility needs, sharing knowledge, donating retired assets, publicising and supporting entities.
Encouraging volunteering
The programme involves encouraging TMB employees to give their time to charitable initiatives. The aim of the programme is to raise awareness and volunteering levels among employees, especially with regard to initiatives in the field of mobility.
Social procurement
Under this programme, the company is progressively adopting more socially aware procurement practices, prioritising the selection of social suppliers (companies operating in the social economy, special work centres, cooperatives, workplace integration organisations, fair trade companies, etc.) and introducing social clauses in its general procurement processes.
Support for people with mobility needs
This programme is designed to provide special transport and support services for organisations, groups and individuals with mobility problems to help them be more independently mobile and play an active part in society. Measures to help such people take part in daily life in the Barcelona metropolitan area receive particular support.
Sharing knowledge
The aim of this programme is to share, through training activities, technical assistance and cooperation, the knowledge and experience generated in the company with public authorities and organisations that provide public transport services in developing countries as well as closer to home (in accordance with previously established agreements and criteria).
Donation of retired vehicles
The TMB Foundation donates assets that have been retired from service to local bodies in developing countries or to organisations in Catalonia and Spain that need them. In general vehicles are donated through alliances with other institutions, in particular the Metropolitan Council for International Cooperation of Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona (AMB).
Publicity and support for charities
Under this programme, the TMB Foundation provides support and publicity for charitable initiatives developed by social entities or proposed by employees. It prioritises measures to help people with difficulties be more mobile and initiatives aimed at promoting a fairer and more cohesive society.
