Get moving for inflammatory bowel diseases
These are autoimmune diseases that affect the digestive tract and for which as yet there is no cure. While seemingly invisible to most people, they seriously hinder those who suffer from them.
In Spain, these diseases affect more than 100,000 people, of which some 30,000 are in Catalonia.
Invisible but debilitating
These are autoimmune diseases that affect the digestive tract and for which as yet there is no cure. While seemingly invisible to most people, they seriously hinder those who suffer from them.
Current research and education programmes have managed to improve the health and quality of life of sufferers (over three million in Europe and five million worldwide). In Spain, these diseases affect more than 100,000 people, of which some 30,000 are in Catalonia. That is why it is essential to give it visibility and raise funds for the research led by Vall d'Hebron Hospital.
We collaborate with the Catalan Association of Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis Patients (ACCU)
ACCU Catalunya (CA) promotes this project with the aim of making everyone aware of an invisible disability in aspects such as the urgent need for a toilet.
ACCU Catalunya was created in 1992 to assist and inform Crohn's and ulcerative colitis patients in Catalonia and their families, and encourage mutual help among those affected.
Activities
Photographic exhibition "Get moving for inflammatory bowel disease"
Date: December
This travelling exhibition can be seen at various TMB work centres and themed vinyls are located in the transfer corridors of Diagonal metro station (lines 3 and 5).
The aim of this action is to give visibility to and raise awareness of these diseases and the needs of patients as part of the extension of the "No puc esperar" (I can't wait) project agreement in the metro network for the benefit of these patients.
"I can't wait!” campaign on Mou-TV screens
Date: from 17 November to 31 January
Social awareness action on metro and bus networks about patients suffering from inflammatory bowel disease who may need a toilet urgently at any time.
One of the problems that most distress and worry these patients is the constant, and sometimes unpredictable, need to go to the bathroom. Some people see their quality of life diminished by this situation, as the fear of not finding a toilet in time limits their outings away from home.
Interview with a nurse affected by the disease
Date of publication: 23 November
The testimony of Laura Marín Sánchez, a nurse in the Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Unit of the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital who also suffers from one of these diseases. She will teach us more about the disease.
