Barcelona celebrated the ninetieth anniversary of the opening of the Metro Transversal with commemorative activities throughout 2016.
In the first quarter of the year the vintage series 300 train went on a commemorative run and the book "El metro transversal de Barcelona, 1926-2016" was published.
More activities took place on metro L1 between 20 July and the end of the year.
A series 4000 train, "dressed up" as one of the 100 series trains, was in normal service on L1 during this time. It also housed an exhibition of period photos, giving metro users an idea of what metro travel was like almost a century ago.
On platforms of L1 stations between La Bordeta and Catalunya, a series of QR codes provided users with information on the Transversal.
At 5.30 pm on 10 November, Ramon Carbó Ferré, president of Andana Central, an organisation linked to the TMB Foundation and FGC, gave a talk entitled "Història del Metro Transversal" in the Espai Gaudí.
