New website for the TMB Short Story Contest

In the 19th edition, more than 1,500 stories were submitted through the website.

Taking part in TMB Short Stories contest is easy!

This year, the 19th edition of the TMB Short Story Competition has been held, a contest that has already established itself within Barcelona’s literary scene.

Since its beginnings in 2007, the competition’s focal point and operational hub has been its website. Over the years, as successive editions have taken place, the website has adapted to changing needs and evolved with the aim of streamlining the story submission process.

In the 2026 edition, TMB has launched a website with a more modern design, more user-friendly navigation, and a simpler structure that makes it easier both to find information and to take part in the competition.

Record number of stories at the launch of the new website

In the 2026 edition, the competition received 1,556 participating stories, representing a 57% increase compared to the previous edition in 2024—since in 2025 a special edition was held to commemorate the centenary of the Barcelona metro.

Participants were able to take part via the website in four categories: Free Story, School Story, TMB Personal Story, and TweetStory, through the above-mentioned social network.

  • The winner of the Free Story category was Enciam with Bip.
  • The second prize in the Free Story category went to Salambó with Otro triunfo de TMB.
  • The winner of the TweetStory category was P.L.C.D.R.M.R.
  • The winner of the internal TMB Personal Story category was Heus-la aquí, by Marialluïsa Montllor, while the second prize went to Bon viatge, by Ikigai.
  • The award winners in the School Story section were as follows:
    • Category ages 8 to 12: First prize for the story AutoSUBmarí, by Amanda. Second prize for the story Els déus també agafen el metro, by Frida Salinas.
    • Category ages 13 to 17: First prize for the story Yo, el cartel, by Felipa. The second prize was awarded ex aequo to three stories: Fuera de época, by Irene Alventosa; Amor en tinta negra, by HeroVera; and ICS (X), by Primavera.

The school with the highest number of entries was Institut Ventura Gassol of Badalona, with 86 participating stories, followed by Institució Igualada of Jorba. The Most Motivating Teacher Award was presented to Ester Pinter, a teacher at the Institut Ventura Gassol of Badalona.
